Expect more of this after this series

I can’t believe that of the final four teams in the MLB Playoffs, I hate three of them.  Lucky for me, the one team I don’t hate, the defending champion Philadelphia Phillies, is going to win their particular series against the team I hate the most with a passion, the LA Dodgers.  Now, I’m not just saying this because I hate the Dodgers that much, and just want them to lose … yes, I would be saying the same irregardless of who the Dodgers were playing, but in this particular case, it’s true.  The Phillies are the best team in the NL, and will do to the Dodgers, what they did to them last year … and that is eliminate them from championship contention during the NLCS.  The Dodgers are young and talented, and they’re being coached by baseball’s version of Phil Jackson, but that doesn’t stop the Phillies from swinging those bats.  And trust me, when those bats swing, the bell goes ding.  Corny?  Yeah I agree.  The Phillies lineup is flat out ridiculous, in fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if they weren’t the ones who cracked the liberty bell.  OK, that was corny too.  Anyway, they’re clutch to go along with it.  Go ask Colorado about timely hitting.  I just don’t see the Dodgers, or any team for that matter, containing the Phillies lineup long enough to win a series.  What’s crazy is that their rotation is still not playing to their capabilities, especially last year’s World Series MVP Cole Hamels.  Expect him to return to form during this series, and for the Dodgers, the timing couldn’t have been any worse.  I also like the idea of throwing in Pedro Martinez in game 2, which allows him a chance to pitch in warm weather where he’ll thrive.  This is why you go out and get a Pedro Martinez, his leadership and experience might be the determining factor in this series, as he’ll get a chance to pitch at least twice.

But what this boils down to is the lineup.  Rollins, Victorino, Utley, Howard, Werth, Ibanez, Feliz.  Good luck anyone.

Phillies win in 7.

  1. I hope we see some crazy finishes in this one! I moved to LA about four years ago, and since I have the choice of Dodgers or Angels, I picked the Dodgers since they’re not a rival of the A’s (my team). I like the Dodgers pen, so if they get a lead watch out Phils!

  2. Right now, both pens are looking pretty solid. How about that Chan Ho Park!?

Great game thus far, hope the rest of the series follows suit.

I’m pulling for the Phil’s, being a life long Giant fan, it’s in my blood to root against the Blue.

PS – I’m writing this during the bottom of the 7th with two outs and a man on second. So we’ll see how this holds up.

  3. Ah, gotcha. I don’t mind the Giants, I’m really an American League guy, but since I want the Yankees and Angels to both lose I guess I have to pick someone in the NL. I don’t think it would ruin my day if the Phil’s won it.

It’s the top of the 9th, and we’ll see if they throw Lidge out there. Could get interested if Broxton gets through Utley and Howard. Just wrote my NFL picks for the week…. Check them out if you want…

    Doin Lines Week 6

    • Broxton looked good didn’t he? Especially the high heat he blew past Howard. But how about Lidge? That had to feel good for him! I’m about to peep your NFL picks right now!

  4. Yeah, Boxton was thowing some heat! He’s been solid all year long! I wish lidge figured it out sooner, because he killed my fantasy team this year…
